The Wacker BS 600 Vibratory Rammer is designed and manufactured by the Wacker Corporation, the leading force in vibratory rammer production. The Wacker BS 600 rammer is designed to compact loose gravel and soil into a firm base for concrete slabs, pavers, foundations and other permanent structures.
This is a versatile tool and one that is perfect for a landscaping job or for larger construction tasks. Here are some operational tips and safety information concerning the BS 600 Vibratory Rammer.
The Wacker vibratory rammer requires a 50:1 mix of unleaded gasoline and two-stroke motor oil. Always mix the oil and gasoline together in a separate container before filling the tank. For the appropriate ratio of gasoline to oil, refer to the user manual or talk to one of our assistants at Aspen Rent-All.
Starting up the vibratory rammer
Never start the rammer on hard surfaces such as concrete slabs or asphalt. The rammer will damage these surfaces. Place the tool on loose gravel or soil.
To make the rammer operational, first open the fuel valve. The first time you use the tool, the engine will most likely be cold, so close the choke on the carburetor. Even warm engines will occasionally need to be choked to start up.
Next move the throttle to ¼ or ½ and pull the starter rope until the engine kicks into gear. As the engine warms up, open the choke on the carburetor. Cold engines should warm in the idle position for about a minute, but always open the choke as failure to do so could cause flooding.
How to use a vibratory rammer
For maximum performance, operate the machine in the full throttle position. Never force the rammer forward, guide it by the handle and allow the motion of the machine to pull forward. For maximum compaction, keep the shoe of the BS 600 flat. Running the shoe on the toe or heel will cause excessive wear.
